Amorim after loss to SL Benfica: We lack creativity and create problems for ourselves

Milan's head coach, Ruben Amorim, expressed his dissatisfaction with his team's performance following a 2-0 defeat to SL Benfica in their Europa League opener, stating that the Rossoneri had possession of the ball but failed to convert that into real chances in front of the Portuguese team's goal.

Amorim said: "We are trying to create harmony among the players, but we are not succeeding in that. We keep the ball, but we lack creativity near the penalty area. I don't know if it's mental, but this is the second consecutive match where we haven't been in the game during the first half."

The Portuguese coach added: "We cannot concede goals in those few moments when we need to defend our penalty area. We are already struggling to score goals, and when we concede a goal, we become nervous, and everything becomes more difficult," stressing the need to improve the team's performance as a complete unit.

Amorim continued: "It's not about one or two players, we need to improve as a team. We get to the penalty area a lot, but no one attacks it, even when Chukwueze sends in crosses. Before the second goal, we had a chance when De Winter was alone, and we need to become a better team," in a clear message to his players after a disappointing European start.
