Brighton beat Manchester United and send them out of the EFL Cup
Manchester United have been eliminated from the EFL Cup in the third round after a thrilling 3-2 defeat to Brighton at Old Trafford.
Manchester United started the match strongly, scoring two early goals in the opening minutes. Shea Lacey opened the scoring for the Red Devils in the 8th minute, following an assist from Tielemans.
Just two minutes later, Mason Mount doubled the hosts' lead by scoring the second goal in the 10th minute, making Brighton's task more difficult. However, Brighton managed to reduce the deficit before the end of the first half, as Charalampos Kostoulas scored the visitors' first goal in the 45+1 minute.
In the second half, Brighton continued their attempts to get back into the match, and Pascal Groß managed to score the equalizer in the 65th minute, while Maxim De Cuyper succeeded in scoring the winning goal in the 70th minute, turning the team's two-goal deficit into a thrilling victory.
With this result, Brighton have advanced to the Round of 16 of the EFL Cup, while Manchester United's adventure in the competition has ended early after their defeat at home and in front of their fans.
