Karetsas returns to Borussia Dortmund training after worrying incident in UEFA Champions League
Belgian-Greek Konstantinos Karetsas, a player for Borussia Dortmund, has returned to team training today, Wednesday, after overcoming the illness he suffered during the match against Villarreal in the UEFA Champions League last week.
Konstantinos Karetsas, 18, left the match between Borussia Dortmund and Villarreal after just 27 minutes due to circulation issues, as he was carried off the pitch on a stretcher before being taken to the hospital for medical examinations.
The player spent three days in hospital and underwent several tests that, according to the club, did not reveal a clear cause for the issue he faced. After his discharge, he continued individual training over the past few days before receiving the green light to join the team's collective training.
Karetsas hopes to return to Borussia Dortmund's squad for the match against Stuttgart next Saturday in the Bundesliga, after missing the 3-0 victory over Paderborn in the last round.
The player has moved to Borussia Dortmund this summer from KRC Genk for around 30 million euros.
