Bayern Munich clarify stance on signing Florian Wirtz

Bayern Munich have clarified their stance on the possibility of signing Florian Wirtz, a Liverpool player, after the German international was linked with a return to the Bundesliga, with the idea of a swap deal with the English club being proposed.

Liverpool have signed Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen for around £116 million in the summer of 2025, after the player had been a target for Bayern Munich and Manchester City.

Despite high expectations surrounding his transfer, Florian Wirtz has not delivered the anticipated performances with Liverpool, partly struggling with the physicality of the Premier League.

However, German journalist Christian Falk has confirmed that Bayern Munich are not currently working on a surprise deal to sign the player, pointing out that the club has no current plans to sign him.

Falk stated on the "CF Bayern Insider" program that there is a history between Bayern and Wirtz, explaining that the two parties held secret meetings before the player moved to Liverpool, but Arne Slot managed to convince him to join the English club.

Falk added that he does not share concerns about the level of Wirtz, confirming that the player is performing better than he did last year, despite changing his position with the team.

Falk has not completely ruled out the possibility of Michael Olise moving to Liverpool as part of a deal involving Florian Wirtz in the future, but he emphasized that there is currently nothing planned.

Fritz could attract Bayern's interest if he decides to return to the Bundesliga, while Olise continues to play a pivotal role in Vincent Kompany's new system with Bayern.

Falk has indicated that the sale of Oulys for a large sum to Real Madrid could provide Bayern with the funds necessary to make an offer for Wirtz, but he confirmed that there are many matters that need to be discussed before a deal of this kind can happen.
