Al-Ittihad grants players 7 days off before preparing for Al-Hilal clash

The coaching staff of Al-Ittihad, led by German coach Jens Wissing, has granted the players a 7-day break, taking advantage of the pause in the Saudi Pro League due to the Gulf Cup.

Ittihad will resume training on September 23, after the coaching staff decided to take advantage of the break that lasts for about 25 days before returning to official competitions.

Ittihad are looking forward to a strong clash against Al-Hilal following the break, in the team's first test after the resumption of the Saudi Pro League in the upcoming phase.

Al-Ittihad earned a point from their opening match in the AFC Champions League Elite 2026-2027, drawing 1-1 with hosts Al-Shamal.

The match ended in a draw in the first round of the AFC Champions League Elite, which took place on Monday evening, and saw Al-Ittihad score their goal in the dying moments of the encounter.

The Ittihad team secured a valuable point from their opponent's stadium after equalizing just before the final whistle, starting their AFC Champions League Elite campaign with one point.

Ittihad are set to play their second match in the AFC Champions League Elite against Shabab Al-Ahli, in a match scheduled to take place in Jeddah on October 13.

The break in competitions gives the coaching staff a chance to reorganize the Union and prepare the players ahead of the resumption of the season against Al-Hilal, followed by continuing their Asian journey.
