The Saudi Pro League's Disciplinary and Ethics Committee has punished Al-Taawoun due to chants and phrases shouted by its fans during the match against Al-Hilal. The committee deemed these actions a violation of the disciplinary and ethical regulations.

The committee has fined Al-Taawoun 100,000 riyals, in addition to requiring them to play two home matches in the Saudi Pro League without fans.

The decision came after the incident of chants targeting Al-Hilal player Rúben Neves during the match between the two teams, prompting the committee to take disciplinary action against the club.

The Saudi Football Association and the Saudi Pro League have issued a joint statement condemning the practices witnessed during the match between Al-Taawun and Al-Hilal.

The statement emphasized that using personal tragedies for abuse or provocation contradicts sporting values, affirming the rejection of such behaviors within Saudi stadiums.

The federation and the league emphasized the importance of respecting all parties involved in the game and adhering to sportsmanship, stating that such behaviors do not align with the principles that underpin Saudi football.

The Saudi Football Federation has reported that the relevant committees have observed the incident and have begun completing the necessary procedures according to the approved regulations, in preparation for issuing appropriate sanctions.

The Disciplinary and Ethics Committee's decision regarding Al-Taawoun comes as a follow-up to previous announcements, after the relevant authorities confirmed that the penalties related to the incident will be issued after completing the necessary legal procedures.
