Manchester United identify successor to Carrick despite ongoing trust in him

Italian coach Antonio Conte, the former manager of Chelsea, is in the running to replace Michael Carrick at Manchester United, following the team's troubled start to the Premier League, according to TEAMtalk.

Michael Carrick has taken over as permanent manager of Manchester United at the end of last season, after leading the team to Champions League qualification. However, he has only managed to collect 4 points from the first 4 matches in the Premier League this season.

According to "Corriere dello Sport", the INEOS group is exploring the possibility of sacking Carrick and signing Conte, who is currently not associated with any team since his departure from SSC Napoli at the end of last season.

Conte is regarded as one of the top managers, having won 10 major titles, including the Premier League with Chelsea in the 2016/2017 season, along with Serie A titles with Juventus, Inter, and SSC Napoli.

However, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Manchester United are not planning to sack Carrick at the moment, pointing out that the INEOS group continues to have confidence in the English coach.

Romano has clarified that the club wanted to sign a left-back during the summer but could not find the right option, confirming that Manchester United is still convinced of Carrick's ability to achieve better results in the upcoming period.
