Officially: Spotify Camp Nou to host UEFA Champions League final 2029

UEFA has officially selected Spotify Camp Nou to host the UEFA Champions League final in 2029, after Barcelona's bid outperformed Wembley Stadium. The final of the 2028 edition will take place at Allianz Arena in Munich.

Spanish newspaper "Mundo Deportivo" confirmed that Spotify Camp Nou was chosen during a UEFA executive committee meeting in Thessaloniki, Greece, after previously indicating that Barcelona's stadium was the frontrunner to host the final.

The final is set to take place on June 2, 2029, with the Spotify Camp Nou stadium expected to be completed in early 2028, following the installation of the roof during the summer of 2027. Its capacity will reach 104,600 seats, including 9,400 seats for VIPs.

Barcelona's bid for the final has received support from the city council, the Catalan government, the Spanish Football Federation, and the Spanish government. Additionally, the city's hotel and airport facilities, along with the proximity of Reus and Girona airports, have enhanced the stadium's chances of hosting the final.

UEFA has also announced the selection of Allianz Arena in Munich to host the 2028 final, after it was the only bid submitted to host the match, following the successful staging of the 2025 final at the German stadium.

The 2029 final will be the third UEFA Champions League final hosted at FC Barcelona's stadium, following the finals in 1989 and 1999, when AC Milan and Manchester United were crowned champions respectively.

Camp Nou has previously hosted two European Cup Winners' Cup finals, as well as several matches from the 1982 FIFA World Cup, along with the men's football final at the Olympic Games in Barcelona, where Spain claimed the gold medal against Poland.

With the hosting of the UEFA Champions League final in 2029, the biggest European final will return to FC Barcelona's stadium, after years of hosting major matches and continental and international finals.
