High-level meeting between Laporta and Mendes in Barcelona
Portuguese Jorge Mendes took advantage of his presence in Barcelona to hold a meeting with Joan Laporta, the president of FC Barcelona, to discuss several matters related to the club and the players he represents.
According to 'Mundo Deportivo', the meeting was not aimed at preparing for new signings, especially since the summer transfer market has just closed.
Following the permanent signing of João Cancelo and the loan of Marc Casadó to Deportivo, there are currently no new operations on the table.
Alejandro Balde's situation was not a main focus of the meeting, despite the left-back receiving fewer playing minutes under Hansi Flick, alongside reported interest from Liverpool. However, FC Barcelona does not intend to part ways with the player at this time.
The meeting gains special importance as Mendes is also linked to Lamine Yamal, one of his top clients and a leading candidate for the 2026 Ballon d'Or. With 42 days to go before the announcement of the award winner, Laporta and FC Barcelona officials have publicly expressed their support for the young player, who wears the number 10 shirt.
