De Zerbi rules out Richarlison for Liverpool clash and confirms: nothing has changed

Roberto De Zerbi, the Italian manager of Tottenham, has confirmed that Brazilian forward Richarlison will not be part of the team for the upcoming match against Liverpool on Tuesday in the next round of the EFL Cup, stating that the player's situation has not changed from his current status.

Richarlison has been left out of Tottenham's 25-man squad registered for the Premier League, after being informed that he is no longer part of the club's first-team plans. Despite this, the player remained available to participate in the EFL Cup, before De Zerbi also confirmed his exclusion from this competition.

Roberto De Zerbi said in the press conference: "Richarlison, you already know everything, and nothing changes regarding the League Cup or Premier League. The situation remains the same," referring to the matter between the player and the club, and that he cannot discuss the details.

The Italian coach added: "At the beginning of the season, I spoke to him a lot and tried to convince him to stay, even suggesting he extend his contract, but he said no thank you. If he refuses, my job is done. I can't go every day begging him to stay," confirming that he knows what happened over the past 45 weeks but does not see it as appropriate to reveal the details.

Richarlison's situation at Tottenham continues to develop as he was a starter in the Premier League opener against Brentford before receiving the green light to leave. His attempts to move to Everton have failed, and negotiations with Trabzonspor have not progressed, while his return to his preferred club, Clube de Regatas Vasco da Gama, has stalled due to FIFA regulations, as Tottenham has reached the maximum allowed number of player loans to clubs affiliated with different federations.
