Rodri's impact reduces Gavi's role with FC Barcelona

Gavi's role with FC Barcelona has diminished at the start of the current season, having started as a regular before injury and the arrival of Rodri affected his participation, although Hans Flick continues to consider him in his plans.

According to "Sport", Gavi returned early from his holiday and showed good preparations, which led Flick to rely on him as a starter against Elche in the first round of the league. However, he then suffered a heavy blow to his right leg, causing him to miss the matches against Athletic Bilbao and Rayo Vallecano.

During his absence, Rodri has started to regain match rhythm, and his presence alongside Pedri in midfield is reducing the space available for Gavi. The player only received seven minutes against Feyenoord, while he remained on the bench against Valencia and Levante.

The Spanish newspaper reported that Rodri completed 90 minutes against Levante, while Flick relies on Marc Bernal when resting Pedri. However, the coach appreciates Gavi's commitment and dedication in training, and intends to give him more minutes soon.

Gavi's versatility offers additional options for Flick as he can play in multiple positions, while the player continues to work on regaining his role despite increased competition following Rodri's arrival.
