Mariska: Winning the derby with 10 players is a special feeling and Foden's red card was deserved

He also clarified his position on Erling Haaland's goal, which sparked controversy due to a suspected offside.

Mariska said in statements to the "BBC" network after the match: "These are the feelings of the derby after winning with ten players. It is always nice to win while playing with ten players, but the derby is a special match for everyone. I was happy, and I think my reaction was natural."

He added: "After the red card, the plan changed completely. The spirit, effort, and unity shown by the players was amazing. I believe the red card was deserved for Phil Foden, honestly, but in the same incident, there should have also been a card for Bruno Fernandes of Manchester United, not just for us."

Manchester City manager said: "We did not allow them any counter-attacks or spaces behind our defense. It is a special match for everyone; for the fans, for the club, for the manager, but this is not the moment I think about myself. I think about the team and the fantastic three points we achieved."

Mariska has concluded regarding Erling Haaland, whose goal Manchester United players called for to be disallowed for offside: "I think he was clearly in a correct position, so it's good to count the goal."
