Carrick criticises decision to award Manchester City goal: Amazing and concerning interpretation

Michael Carrick, the manager of Manchester United, has expressed his strong dissatisfaction with the decision to award Manchester City a goal during the Manchester derby, in a match that ended with the team losing by a single goal.

Michael Carrick, speaking to Sky Sports about Manchester City's goal, said: "I am perplexed. We now have people in offices in front of all the screens making such decisions. The most concerning thing for me is whether this is the interpretation of football now. If this is the interpretation of not intervening in play now, that is extremely worrying for me. It's an astonishing interpretation."

He added: "This decision will not change the season, but it had a big impact on the match. That decision was something we could not control today. It is up to us to create chances and score after that. We had moments, and of course it is up to us to do that, but the big moments in matches like this have a significant impact."

Manchester United's manager said: "We did a lot of things well, and we seemed to be developing nicely as the game went on. We looked dangerous. We will take the positives from today's match and move forward well, but we won't treat it as if it didn't happen."

Michael Carrick concluded his statements by saying: "We could have created more chances. This is an answer we need to find for ourselves, but we were capable of it. This is our second defeat since I took charge, but we are a good team and we will get back to winning ways."
