Edouard Mendy announces international retirement

Senegal goalkeeper Édouard Mendy has announced his retirement from international football, bringing an end to his career with the Senegal national team after years of brilliance and trophy success.

The 34-year-old goalkeeper of Al Ahly FC confirmed his decision through a video posted on his social media accounts, accompanied by a message saying 'Thank you Senegal'.

Mendy has informed Patrick Vieira, who is awaiting the official announcement of his appointment as the new coach of the Senegal national team, of his decision before announcing it to the fans.

Mendy has played 59 international matches with the Senegal national team since his debut in November 2018, and he was one of the key players of the generation that won the Africa Cup of Nations in 2021.

Mendy leaves the Senegal national team after a successful career, making way for a new era under Patrick Vieira.
