New face set to make first appearance with Morocco national team

Reports have revealed that Mohamed Wahbi, the coach of the Morocco national team, has summoned Dynamo Bucharest goalkeeper Alaa Belarrouch to the preliminary squad of the Atlas Lions in preparation for the matches against Gabon and Lesotho on September 25 and 29, in the Africa Cup of Nations Qualification for 2027.

This is the first call-up for Balarouch to the Morocco national team after impressing with his performances at Dinamo Bucharest since the start of the season, and he has succeeded in establishing himself as the team's first-choice goalkeeper.

The Moroccan goalkeeper has participated in the first eight matches of his club in the Romanian league, conceding only six goals. His save percentage stands at 78.6%, making him one of the standout goalkeepers in the competition at the start of the season.

Belaroush's brilliance did not stop at guarding his team's goal, as he provided an assist during the match between Dynamo Bucharest and Chişcani, delivering a key pass to his teammate Din Zandbergen, who scored one of the goals in the victory by three goals to one.

The call-up of the young goalkeeper reflects Mohamed Wahbi's desire to expand his selection options and give new players the chance to compete for positions in the national team, especially in light of the search for future alternatives for the goalkeeper position as Munir Mohand is aging.

If Belaroush remains on the final list, he will have the opportunity to make his first appearance with the Morocco national team, having previously represented Morocco at youth levels.
