Diomande enters a special historical list
Ivorian youngster Yan Diomande has made history at Real Madrid by becoming the third youngest player to start a match for the team in LaLiga under José Mourinho, following his participation in the ongoing match against Rayo Vallecano.
According to Opta, Yan Diomande is 19 years and 302 days old, making him the third youngest player to start for Real Madrid in LaLiga during Mourinho's tenure.
In this list, Yan Diomande is surpassed by the Frenchman Raphaël Varane, who started for Real Madrid in 2011 at the age of 18 years and 149 days, and the Spaniard Sergio Canales, who began as a starter in 2010 at the age of 19 years and 194 days.
Yan Diomande has a significant opportunity to prove himself in front of Mourinho, after the Portuguese coach has relied on a gradual approach with the player since his arrival at Real Madrid during the summer transfer window.
