Amorim after Milan and Lazio draw: the first half was catastrophic

Rubén Amorim, AC Milan's head coach, stated that his team deserved to perform better during their match against SS Lazio, despite successfully coming back from two goals down to secure a 2-2 draw.

The Portuguese coach commented after the match: "We came back with a point, but we could have done better. In the first half, there was no pressure, and I agree with Ghezzal, it was a catastrophic first half. In the second half, we showed more energy and speed and managed to come back with a point."

Amorim discussed Luka Modrić's situation, emphasizing that the issue wasn't solely related to the Croatian star. He explained: "The problem is not just with Modrić; in the first half, we weren't good at passing the ball. AC Milan are capable of playing with Modrić, but we need to present a certain type of game; we can't just run back and forth."

He added that Modrić was very close to the defence, which prompted him to bring on Moisés to give the team more vitality.

Regarding the decision to deploy Diego Moreira on the left side, Amorim explained that the goal was to increase the team's attacking inclination, stating: "The idea of putting him there is to have a more attacking player, and since he is left-footed, he opens up the pitch more on the left side."

He added: "The idea was to make AC Milan more attacking, and for me, he can play in different spaces on the pitch."

The Portuguese coach spoke about striker Ramos, emphasizing the need to increase offensive support around him. He said: "We need to get more players into the penalty area, and he needs to spend more time inside the box, otherwise it becomes difficult for Ramos."

He concluded: "With the improvement of the attacking midfielders, Ramos will also improve."
