Media figure Amir Hisham revealed that Al Ahly are seeking to bolster their defense in January, following an injury to Amr El Gazar, who suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament.

Amir Hisham explained on the "Modern Sports" program broadcast on Modern MTI that the coaching staff of Al Ahly currently has 4 defenders in the back line: Hady Reyad, Yassin Marei, Yasser Ibrahim, and Achraf Dari, in addition to having players who can play as center-backs, such as Mohamed Hani and Ahmed Reda.

Al Ahly have several options at right-back, including Akram Tawfik, Ahmed Eid, and Karim Fouad. However, the current direction may be to rely on Mohamed Hani in the center-back position if needed.

The club is looking to sign a local defender as a primary option, while the foreign player option is currently ruled out unless one of the Moroccan professionals, Achraf Dari or Reda Slim, departs.

Mohamed Abdel-Monem's chances of returning to Al Ahly are diminishing despite being a key option for the management. This is due to his high financial demands, which previously reached 3 million dollars, as well as the development of his technical situation in Europe, where he has started participating regularly with his French team. He had preferred to continue his professional journey last summer and assess his situation instead of returning early.

Hossam Abdel-Meguid, former Zamalek defender now playing in Bulgaria, is among the options being considered by Al Ahly, especially since he has become a free agent after leaving the White Castle. This may prompt the club's officials to explore the possibility of negotiating with him in the upcoming period.

The local nominations to strengthen Al Ahly's defense include Mostafa Ibrahim (Ittihad Alexandria SC) and Mahmoud El Gazar (Bank El Ahly), who has returned to the picture after the injury of Amr El Gazar. Meanwhile, the stock of the professional in Italy, Omar Fayed, has declined due to technical reservations that emerged after a close follow-up of his matches, despite previous communication with him last summer.
