Dembélé names his Ballon d'Or candidate and talks about the possibility of losing it

Ousmane Dembélé, the star of Paris Saint-Germain, has revealed his preferred player to win the Ballon d'Or, confirming that the award should stay within the ranks of the Parisian club.

When asked about the player he would vote for to win the Ballon d'Or, Ousmane Dembélé said in an interview with the French newspaper "L'Équipe": "For me, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, the Ballon d'Or will remain in the hands of a player from Paris Saint-Germain."

Dembélé discussed his chances of competing for the award, highlighting his strong performances in crucial moments, saying: "I was better in the crucial moments, very clearly. This has an impact. This is the first criterion, isn't it?".

The French star explained that the injuries he suffered at the start of the season affected his appearances, saying: "With the physical problems I experienced at the beginning of the season, the coach knew how to manage me well in order to keep me for the crucial dates."

He added about his assessment of the season: "I had a good season. I could have done more, of course, because I faced many problems at the beginning. But I believe I had a very good season. However, it is not my place to judge myself."

He added: "I am not afraid of losing my award. This is football, and the Ballon d'Or has never been an obsession for me at all."

Dembélé spoke about the difficulty of staying humble after winning the biggest individual award in football, saying: "It is natural for a person to become arrogant after winning the biggest individual award."

He concluded: "You have to prove every season that you were not elected for nothing. But in August, we start from scratch. We do not forget the past, but we set it aside and think about the future."
