De Zerbi reveals reason for Richarlison's exclusion from Tottenham squad

Roberto De Zerbi, the manager of Tottenham, has revealed new details regarding the exclusion of Brazilian forward Richarlison from the squad in the Premier League, confirming that the decision was not merely a technical choice on his part, but rather a result of what transpired between the player and the club over the past few weeks.

Roberto De Zerbi said: "Richarlison is a very good person, and I have spoken to him many times and spent time trying to convince him to stay, but I know the truth and what happened over the last month, and the last 45 days, and this is clear to me."

The Italian coach added: "I know what the club has done for him over the last 45 days, and I also know how Richarlison has behaved, but I cannot explain the details because it is not right for me to do so. I am sorry that things could have ended differently, and it would have been better for Richarlison to be in the squad, happy to stay and perhaps renew his contract."

De Zerbi emphasized that the player brought himself to this situation, stating: "If I were the one who decided to exclude him on my own, I would feel regret, but the decision has not even been made by the club. It was a result of what I told you, he made the decision himself."

Richarlison will miss Tottenham's Premier League squad until at least January after his attempts to leave during the transfer window fell through.
