Under the patronage of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, Jeddah to host "Gulf 27"

Jeddah will host the 27th edition of the Arabian Gulf Cup, set to kick off on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, under the patronage of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.

Saudi Arabia will host the Gulf Championship from September 23 to October 6, with 8 teams competing for the title across 15 matches. This edition is expected to attract significant public interest.

Saudi Arabia's Minister of Sports and President of the Saudi Olympic and Paralympic Committee, Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki bin Faisal bin Abdulaziz, thanked the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques for his generous sponsorship of the tournament.

The Minister of Sports stated that King Salman's sponsorship embodies the significant support received by the sports sector and reflects the leadership's interest in sports and athletes, as well as the Kingdom's hosting of major sporting events.

He added that the 27th Gulf Cup represents an important sporting event for the people of the region, due to the history and significance of the tournament, as well as the strong brotherly ties it reflects between the countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council.

The tournament matches will take place at King Abdullah Sports City and Prince Abdullah Al Faisal Stadium in Jeddah, with organizational and operational preparations completed to welcome the teams, fans, and media.

The first group includes the teams from Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Oman, and Kuwait, while the second group features Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, and Yemen, in a competition that sees the participation of eight teams.

Jeddah makes its debut as a host for the Arabian Gulf Cup, during a tournament that extends until October 6, with aspirations to organize a version that befits the history of 'Gulf 27' and its stature.
