Mohamed Sami apologises after receiving a red card against Al-Zawraa

Al Quwa Al Jawiya player Mohamed Sami has broken his silence for the first time after his direct red card in the clásico match against Al Zawraa. He publicly apologized to the Falcons fans and the club management following the 0-1 loss in the seventh round of the Iraqi Premier League.

The red card issued in the 12th minute after a VAR review changed the course of the match completely, with the blue team finishing the game with 10 players for over 80 minutes.

Mohamed Sami posted a statement on his official accounts, saying:

"I apologize for the second time to the fans who have always supported me in all circumstances, and I apologize to the coaching staff, the management, and all the staff at the club."

The player added: "I take full responsibility for what happened. I did not intend to harm the team, but it was a moment of passion in a big match. I promise to work harder to come back better."

Sami concluded his message with a phrase that resonated widely with Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya fans: "God is sufficient for us against those who wronged us," in a veiled reference to the circumstances surrounding the incident that led to his dismissal after a VAR review for a handball by Sajad Mohammed Fadhil, a player for Al-Zawraa.

The early red card cost Al Quwa Al Jawiya dearly. The team fell back defensively and failed to match the advantage of Al Zawraa, who capitalized on the numerical deficiency and scored the only winning goal through Hiran Ahmed in the 39th minute.

After the match, coach Fathi Al-Jabal stated that "completing 80 minutes with ten players against Al-Zawraa is very difficult", which was clearly evident as the play was confined to the midfield and the Falcons' attacking attempts diminished.
