Ancelotti responds to Thiago Silva

Italian coach Carlo Ancelotti, manager of Brazil, has responded to defender Thiago Silva's remarks, who criticized the exclusion of players over the age of 30, affirming that the current phase requires prioritizing younger elements.

Ancelotti said during a press conference, commenting on the statements of Fluminense's defender: "Regarding the goals we have in these friendly matches, I believe the squad is balanced. I don't generally focus on the ages of the players, but now is the right time to prioritize the young players who have potential and can be part of the future."

The Italian coach added: "One thing is certain, a player aged 34 or 35 will not have a future, but he is the present. If a player of that age is ready to compete in an important tournament, he will be part of the national team, but the priority now is for younger players."

Carlo Ancelotti's latest squad shows a clear reliance on young players, especially in goalkeeping, having called up Hugo Souza from Corinthians, Pedro Morisco from Coritiba, and Otávio from Cruzeiro.

Ancelotti confirmed that the door will not be closed to experienced players, mentioning goalkeeper Alysson. He said: "If Alysson continues to be the best goalkeeper in Brazil, he will play in the next Copa América. Now we just have to prioritize younger players."
