Tottenham renews Lucas Bergvall's contract

Tottenham have officially renewed the contract of young Swedish midfielder Lucas Bergvall, allowing him to continue his journey with the London club in the coming years.

Lucas Bergvall, aged 20, is one of the standout young midfielders in Europe, having played 80 matches for Tottenham across all competitions so far, alongside his 14 international appearances for Sweden, including his historic appearance in the FIFA World Cup 2026.

Lucas Bergvall said after the renewal: "I think we are building something great here, and this is an exciting time for the club, so I am happy to extend my contract. My goal is to contribute more to the team, whether through performance or scoring and assisting goals, and I am improving every day in training."

Sporting director Johan Lange praised the player's potential, confirming that the club is "happy with his commitment to his future with Tottenham." Meanwhile, coach Roberto De Zerbi stated that Lucas Bergvall's best years are "still ahead of him," emphasizing his desire to provide the right environment for him to reach his full potential.

Lucas Bergvall joined Tottenham from Djurgården in February 2024, before arriving in London in July of the same year. He made a remarkable start, participating in 45 matches during his first season and winning three individual awards at the club's Player of the Season awards in 2025, as well as clinching the UEFA Europa League title, before adding another 33 appearances during the 2025-2026 season. On the international stage, he contributed to Sweden's qualification for the FIFA World Cup 2026, becoming the youngest Swedish player to participate in World Cup history.
