Newcastle officially announces Lewis Hall contract renewal

Newcastle have announced the renewal of defender Lewis Hall's contract on a long-term deal, allowing the player to continue with his childhood club at St James' Park.

Lewis Hall, aged 22, has become a key player for the first team at Newcastle in recent seasons, having played 107 matches for the club since joining in August 2023.

Lewis Hall has joined Newcastle on loan, making his debut in a big 8-0 win over Sheffield United before the deal turned permanent in July 2024. The player participated in all stages of Newcastle's successful campaign in the EFL Cup during the 2024-2025 season, but missed the final due to an ankle injury, and he also played 11 matches with the team in the UEFA Champions League.

Hall has also received a chance to represent the England senior national team, having previously played with various youth teams, before receiving his first call-up to the senior team in November 2024. Since then, he has participated in four matches with the 'Three Lions'.

Lewis Hall said after renewing his contract: "I am extremely happy, it is a huge moment of pride for me. Playing for this club and representing its fans is a real honor, and I know how important that is for them. The Newcastle fans and the support we get here, whether at St James' Park or away from home, is the best in the league in my opinion."

He added: "I have, of course, a family connection to the club, and that is very important for all of us. One of the main reasons that drives me to play is to make my family proud of me, and I know how important it is for them to watch me play for Newcastle. We are in a great place, and it’s fantastic the way we have started the season, especially with the new manager and coaching staff, and I believe we are capable of achieving very big things."

Newcastle manager Matthias Jaissle praised the player's levels, stating: "I have been impressed with Lewis since my arrival. He is a very important player for us and for what we are building here, so this is exciting news. His abilities and characteristics make him a perfect fit for our team, and his mentality is exactly what you want in a young player."

Yasle added: "Lewis is capable of covering large areas in a way that only a few players can, and he defends with maturity and intelligence, while his technical level allows him to support the team in advanced areas of the pitch. What excites me the most is my belief that the best of Lewis has yet to be seen, as he still has a lot of room for development."
