Michael Carrick, the manager of Manchester United, spoke about his team's 4-0 win over Sabah in the first round of the UEFA Champions League group stage at Old Trafford.

Michael Carrick stated in remarks to TNT Sports: "It’s good to keep a clean sheet and of course to win the match. Some of the football we played was really good and dangerous in transitions."

He added: "I have to give a lot of credit to Sabah, they were tough to face. The score looks comfortable, but it wasn't like that all the time. We did a lot of good things tonight, which gave us a good result."

Speaking about midfielder Kobbie Mainoo, he said: "He is a fantastic player, and it is very clear to see that. He has a big impact on our matches. He is a real joy to have with us, he wants to develop, he wants to listen, and it is great to see that."

Michael Carrick spoke about the harmony among the midfield players, saying: "We have some really good players. It's nice to have Mason [Mount] and André [Santos] with us. There are some good connections, and we played good football through the midfield."

He concluded: "A lot of that depends on the understanding and knowing where each player wants to receive the ball. Just understanding things and developing them is something we have done more this season. We didn't get the perfect start, but there are very good signs. It's always nice to win the first match at home in the UEFA Champions League."
