Ismail Kartal announces resignation from Fenerbahçe after draw with AS Roma
Ismail Kartal, Fenerbahçe's manager, has announced his resignation after his team's 1-1 draw against AS Roma in the first round of the group stage of the UEFA Champions League.
Kartal has confirmed that he made the decision to leave the club this evening, explaining that his resignation was to pave the way for the club to continue its journey in the next phase, with no intention of returning to his position again.
Fenerbahçe's coach said: "I resigned from my duties this evening. I made this decision to pave the way for the club. I resigned and the path is still open, with no intention of returning to my position again."
