Real Madrid proceed cautiously with Diomande after Mastantuono experience
Real Madrid are proceeding cautiously with Ivorian Yan Diomande, who is 19 years old, despite him becoming the most expensive signing in the club's history after moving from RB Leipzig for €125 million, with the possibility of the fee rising to €140 million depending on the player achieving a set of objectives.
Despite the value of the transfer, Yan Diomande has yet to start any match for Real Madrid, as he has participated in games by coming on in the last third of them. The club, led by manager José Mourinho, confirms that there is a specific plan to gradually integrate him, especially since he joined the team late.
Spanish newspaper "Mundo Deportivo" reports that this approach is reminiscent of what happened with Mastantuono last summer, when the Argentine joined Real Madrid from CA River Plate for €63.2 million at the age of 18, amid high expectations regarding his future.
Mastanotuno has not had enough time to adapt, and Xabi Alonso has relied on him as a starter from the beginning in several matches, but he has been unable to meet the high expectations set by the officials at Real Madrid.
After that, Mastantuono was dropped from the starting lineup and became a prisoner on the bench, before leaving this summer on loan to ACF Fiorentina.
The Spanish newspaper reports that this experience has led Real Madrid to deal with Diomande with extreme caution, in order to avoid repeating the same scenario with a deal worth €125 million, which is the most expensive in the club's history.
