Deco: Yamal the clear favorite for the Ballon d'Or, absence of Pedri and Raphinha is unfair

Barcelona's sporting director Deco has stated that Lamine Yamal is the frontrunner for the Ballon d'Or, emphasizing that he sees no room for doubt regarding the young player's deservingness of the award.

In an interview with Rak 1, Deco discussed Lamine Yamal's chances of winning the award. He also criticized the absence of his teammates Pedri and Raphinha from the list of nominees, while praising the talent of Pau Cubarsí.

Diko said: "I believe that Lamine Yamal is the frontrunner, I see no doubt about it. He had a fantastic season with Barcelona and reached the FIFA World Cup after injury. Last season, he was crucial in winning the league."

He continued: "I love football. It's like when Leo was winning and was the best. In this case, there isn't much debate; I don't understand the lists and how they are prepared, but there is injustice in the awards."

He added: "It's hard for me to see Pedri not in the squad due to his talent, as well as Raphinha."

He explained: "For me, Cubarsí is the most impressive talent among centre-back players. He is the most exciting talent out there."

He concluded his statements by saying: "His development has been amazing, and how he has grown and become a leader by paying attention to the small details."
