Simeone after loss to Liverpool: We didn't defend well
Diego Simeone, Atlético Madrid's manager, expressed his satisfaction with the effort his team put in despite the loss to Liverpool 2-1 at Anfield, confirming that his team had a good first half but lacked clarity and attacking effectiveness in the second half.
Diego Simeone said: "I am happy with the match we played, the players gave their all and put everything in. In the first half, we played well, but in the second, we couldn't find the goal and we didn't have enough clarity, and we lost to an opponent who was decisive and took his chances."
The Argentine coach admitted to clear defensive issues, especially after his team conceded five goals in their last two matches, explaining: "We conceded three goals against Bilbao and two today, we are not defending well," pointing out that individual mistakes were a direct cause of the goals that entered his team's net.
Diego Simeone concluded his remarks by stressing the need to learn from mistakes and work on correcting them, stating that what happened against Liverpool should be part of the process of development and continuous work, especially since the team is still in a phase of building and improving its level.
