A moment Pedri will never forget from Messi in his early days with FC Barcelona

Pedri, a player for FC Barcelona and the Spain national team, revealed a moment that still lingers in his memory with Argentine Lionel Messi during his early days at the Catalan club.

Pedri, in an interview with The Players’ Tribune, stated that he was 18 years old when he arrived at FC Barcelona during the COVID-19 pandemic, and he didn't even know where to enter the team's training facility, before being surprised to see Messi in front of him.

Pedri said: "I was left speechless. I tried to introduce myself, but I don't even know what I said. Leo smiled at me and told me to relax, then he took me to the dressing room."

Spanish midfielder explained that he arrived at FC Barcelona alongside Portuguese Trincão, and the duo felt shy entering the dressing room that included big names like Sergio Busquets, Gerard Piqué, Jordi Alba, and Messi.

He added: "We were amazed just to be there. Busquets, Piqué, Jordi, Leo... we didn't dare to enter the dressing room."

After several days, Messi noticed what was happening and approached the duo while they were in the gym after training. He said to them: "What are you doing here? Come on, join us."

Pedri continued: "We took Leo to the dressing room and showed him where we could sit. We were like two little puppies: Is this okay? Can I sit here?".

Pedri revealed that his career could have taken a different path after failing a trial with Real Madrid in his childhood. He returned home after a week.

He said: "All the other kids had already settled into their accommodation and were going to school, while I spent the whole day alone in the hotel, with nothing to do but look at my phone until training time. After a week, they sent me home. Simply put, it wasn't meant to be. Honestly, it was an experience that brought me back to reality."

After years from that humble beginning, Pedri has become one of the standout players for FC Barcelona and the Spain national team, winning the World Cup with Spain. Meanwhile, Messi's gesture during his early days with the team remains one of the memories that the Spanish player will never forget.
