Al Ahly mourns former star Ahmed Abdel Baqi

Al Ahly FC has issued an official statement mourning the passing of Ahmed Abd El-Baqi, a former star of the club, who passed away today, Tuesday.

Al Ahly FC's statement read: "The club's board of directors, led by Mahmoud El Khatib, along with the executive management and sports sectors, mourn the passing of Ahmed Abdel-Baqi, a former player of Al Ahly and the Egypt national team, who passed away today. We pray to the Almighty to grant the deceased His vast mercy and admit him to His spacious gardens, and to inspire the honorable family with patience and solace. Indeed, we belong to Allah and indeed to Him we shall return."

Ahmed Fawzi, the former Al Ahly FC goalkeeper, has mourned the passing of Ahmed Abdel Baqi, stating that he was like a coach and teacher to him, and praying for God's mercy upon him.

Ahmed Fawzi wrote on his social media page: "Indeed, to Allah we belong and to Him we shall return.. Captain Ahmed Abdel-Baqi, our coach and mentor, is in the mercy of Allah.. May Allah have mercy on him and make his good deeds and suffering weigh in his favor."
