Red Star Belgrade fans raised a tifo in the stands in honor of Ratko Mladić, the former military leader of the Bosnian Serbs, who was convicted of war crimes, crimes against humanity, and genocide during the Bosnian War.

Mladic appeared in the tifos raised by fans during one of the team's matches, a move that sparked widespread controversy due to the glorification of a figure condemned by the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia to life imprisonment.

Ratko Mladić is regarded as one of the most prominent military officials responsible for the atrocities committed during the Bosnian War, including the Srebrenica massacre in 1995, where more than 8,000 Bosniak men and boys were killed.

Some Red Star fan groups are known for their hardline Serbian nationalist positions and have previously sparked controversy by displaying symbols and slogans associated with Serbian nationalism and divisive figures from the Yugoslav Wars.
