Inter announce Dimarco's absence for clash with Real Madrid in UEFA Champions League

Federico Dimarco, Inter's left-back, will miss the clash against Real Madrid scheduled for Tuesday evening, in the opening match of both teams in the group stage of the UEFA Champions League for the 2026-2027 season.

Federico Dimarco's participation against Real Madrid was in doubt after he suffered a knee problem during Inter's match against SSC Napoli, which ended with the Nerazzurri winning 3-2 in Serie A on Saturday.

The Italian player felt some discomfort in his knee during the first half, before appearing in the second half wearing a large brace around the injured area. He then requested to leave the pitch less than 20 minutes after the start of the second half.

Initial tests showed no serious or long-term injury, and Dimarco participated in Inter's group training on Monday morning. However, the coaching staff decided not to take any risks with him against Real Madrid, so he will remain in Milan for precautionary reasons.

Inter are set to rely on Carlos Augusto in the left wing position during their clash against Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabéu, after he came on as a substitute for Federico Dimarco against SSC Napoli and succeeded in assisting one of his team's goals.
