Manchester United's stance on signing Alaba

Manchester United have made a decision regarding the possibility of signing Austrian David Alaba, former defender of Real Madrid, after the transfer window closed as he is a free agent.

Tyron Marshall, a journalist specializing in Manchester United news, has clarified that the club is not currently considering available players without clubs, despite the team's need for additional options in defense.

Manchester United have made four signings for the first team during the summer transfer window, three of which are in midfield, alongside backup goalkeeper Karl Darlow, after prioritising midfield reinforcements following Casemiro's departure and Manuel Ugarte's long-term injury.

Marshall pointed out that several players available for free have surpassed the best periods of their careers, such as Sergio Ramos and Dani Carvajal, while others, including David Alaba, have seen their level decline. He emphasized that these names do not fit the recruitment model adopted by the INEOS group at Old Trafford.

Gary Neville has warned that Manchester United could struggle defensively if some of their players suffer injuries, pointing out that injuries to Luke Shaw and Harry Maguire at the same time would pose a problem for the team, as the club has left itself with limited options at the back.
