FC Barcelona achieves third best scoring start in its history in LaLiga

FC Barcelona continues its strong start in LaLiga, having raised its tally to 17 goals during the first four rounds of the season, achieving the third-best scoring start in the club's history, according to Spanish newspaper "Mundo Deportivo."

This tally comes after a thumping five-goal victory over Valencia at the Mestalla, allowing FC Barcelona to sit alone at the top of the LaLiga table, as coach Hans Flick's team continues to deliver strong attacking performances at the start of the season.

Barcelona's current tally is only surpassed by the 21 goals scored in the 1950/1951 season and 19 goals in the 1949/1950 season. The team also matches two other best scoring starts, having netted 17 goals in the first four rounds during the 1957/1958 and 2011/2012 seasons.

The start of the 1949/1950 season was notable for its big results, as FC Barcelona won against Nàstic Tarragona 10-1 and Sevilla 7-0, but lost to Real Madrid 6-1 and Athletic Bilbao 3-1. In the following season, the team achieved two significant victories over Real Sociedad 8-2 and Real Madrid 7-1, before losing to Atlético 6-4 and Real Murcia 3-2.

Despite a strong scoring start, FC Barcelona failed to win the league in both the 1949/1950 and 1950/1951 seasons, with Atlético claiming the title on both occasions. The same happened in the 1957/1958 and 2011/2012 seasons, when the league title went to Real Madrid.

The 1950/1951 season tops the list of the best scoring starts in FC Barcelona's history with 21 goals, followed by the 1949/1950 season with 19 goals, and then the 2026/2027 season with 17 goals, tied with the 1957/1958 and 2011/2012 seasons.

After a strong start, FC Barcelona, led by Flick, aims to maintain their high scoring rate as they compete for their third consecutive LaLiga title.
