Referees committee decides on the referee for the summit match
Ahmed Shobir has revealed the identity of the referee for the upcoming Cairo derby between Al Ahly and Zamalek in the sixth round of the Egyptian League, scheduled for Sunday, October 11.
Ahmed Shobair, in radio statements, confirmed: "Yesterday, I contacted several members of the referees' committee, and my question was clear and direct: What will you do about the derby match between Al Ahly and Zamalek? They told me unequivocally that foreign referees will be appointed, and they have reached out to the top five leagues, which are England, Spain, Germany, Italy, and France, to bring in a refereeing crew. The referees' committee stipulated that the crew must be from the elite participating in major European competitions."
Al Ahly currently sits in second place in the Egyptian League standings with 9 points after their victory over Eastern Company ENPPI in the first round by a score of 3-2, followed by a win against Zed in the second round with a score of 2-0, and then overcoming Smouha with a single goal in the third round of the tournament.
Zamalek SC is currently in third place in the standings with 7 points, having drawn 0-0 against Ittihad Alexandria SC in the first round, won 3-0 against Bank El Ahly in the second round, and then won 2-1 against Petrojet in the third round.
