Iraqi federation rejects postponement of Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya vs Al Zawraa clash

The Iraq Football Association has put Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya in a real predicament after rejecting their request to postpone the match against Al Zawraa, due to a scheduling conflict with the Falcons' trip to Uzbekistan for their first match in the AFC Elite League.

Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya are set to face Al Zawraa on Thursday, 10th of this month in the sixth round of the Iraq Stars League.

On the same day, the club's management set the travel date for the squad to Uzbekistan to face Neftchi Fergana in the first round of the Asian Elite Championship.

A source has revealed that the team's travel schedule is fully prepared.

The team delegation gathered and headed to Baghdad International Airport at 2 PM.

An official from Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya has submitted a formal request to the competitions committee to postpone the match against Al Zawraa due to 'some matters at the club', specifically related to conflicts with Asian travel.

However, the Iraqi Football Association responded with a refusal, confirming that the match will be played on its originally scheduled date of the 10th of this month, with no room for adjustment.

The source emphasized that the federation clearly informed Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya's management: if the team does not attend the match venue, the competition regulations will be applied, and they will be considered to have lost 3-0 to Al Zawraa.

The Iraq Stars League regulations state that any team that fails to attend without a valid excuse will be penalized with an administrative loss and financial fines.

The management of Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya now finds itself faced with two options, both of which are difficult.

Al Zawraa face a crucial match while sacrificing optimal preparation for the Asian clash against Neftchi.

The second: travel on time and face a penalty of losing 3-0 locally.

This conflict is a major blow to the team's program, which aims to compete for the domestic league title while also representing Iraq honorably in the Asian tournament.
