Fabinho reveals details of his departure from Liverpool to Al-Ittihad

Brazilian midfielder Fabinho, currently with Trabzonspor, has opened up about his departure from Liverpool and his move to Al-Ittihad in the summer of 2023, confirming that he had not planned to leave the English club or transfer to any other European team.

Fabinho stated that he sees Liverpool as the best place in the world to continue playing football and develop, and he aspired to enhance his legacy with the club. However, last season before his departure was tough, as the team failed to deliver the required level and could not qualify for the UEFA Champions League.

The Brazilian player stated that he returned for the next season with a positive mindset and great ambition to compete again for the Premier League title, before receiving an offer from Al-Ittihad, where Liverpool officials informed him that the offer was very good for the club and for him personally.

He explained: "I thought I was an important player for the team, and that the club would reject all offers made for me, but I realized that Liverpool were open to selling me."

Fabinho revealed details of his conversation with former manager Jürgen Klopp, saying: "Klopp called me and asked me what I wanted. I told him that I liked the offer, but I wanted to know his opinion. He told me that if there were players who wanted to leave, he wouldn't stand in their way."

He confirmed that this conversation opened the door for his departure, noting that he didn't like it much, but in the end he said: "I love Liverpool, but the things that happened at that time pushed my life towards Saudi Arabia, and in the end I left peacefully and I am happy with my decision."
