Racing plans to raise the release clause in Jorge Salinas' contract

Racing Santander are preparing to enhance Jorge Salinas' contract after managing to retain the young left-back despite interest from several major clubs, including FC Barcelona and Atlético.

According to the Spanish newspaper "Sport", citing "AS", Racing intends to increase Jorge Salinas' salary, with the possibility of raising the buyout clause in his contract, which currently stands at €16 million, in recognition of his level and talent.

FC Barcelona made a €5 million offer, which was rejected, while Atlético's bid reached €14 million without an agreement. Manchester United and Aston Villa have also shown interest in the player.

FC Barcelona are continuing to monitor Jorge Salinas as part of their future plans to strengthen the left-back position, especially with Alejandro Balde's future under evaluation.

If Balde leaves, FC Barcelona may accelerate their efforts to sign a left-back, with Salinas among the names attracting the club's interest. Deco and his team have four months to assess their options before the winter transfer window opens.
