Gasperini: We couldn't sign Greenwood
Gian Piero Gasperini, the head coach of AS Roma, stated that he thought the revenues from qualifying for the UEFA Champions League would help the club solve its financial issues, but he realized the opposite during attempts to sign Mason Greenwood and Jacopo Samerfield.
Gasperini said: "I thought we had solved our problems with the money we received from the UEFA Champions League. But when we tried to sign Greenwood and Samerville, I realized that the situation is not so."
He added: "Due to salary restrictions, we were forced to let go of players who wanted to join AS Roma."
Gasperini points to financial constraints and salary caps that limited AS Roma's ability to complete some transfers during the transfer market.
