Alonso imposes secrecy on Chelsea news to protect the team

Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso is set to impose greater secrecy on team news, refusing to disclose details regarding injuries or players in an attempt to avoid giving opponents information that could help them ahead of matches.

Chelsea's level of secrecy has notably increased since Alonso took charge, compared to the previous coaches, especially after the incident of leaking the team's lineup last season during Liam Rosenior's tenure.

Alonso is working to establish a principle of confidentiality within Chelsea after leaks were a real issue during his previous experience with Real Madrid. Despite his openness during the pre-season tour, the Spanish coach has become more reserved with the start of the competitions.

This was clearly evident when Alonso was asked about the team's primary penalty taker, to which he replied, "No, sorry." He also refused to reveal his preferred goalkeeper, simply stating, "Don't ask."

The Daily Mail also pointed out that Chelsea have stopped publishing a detailed weekly list of player injuries and doubts about their participation, as was clearly the case during Maurício Pochettino's time, as Alonso prefers not to provide advance information that competitors could benefit from.
