Manchester City targeted Pavlovic before signing Bouaddi

German journalist Christian Falk has revealed that Manchester City have made Aleksandar Pavlovic, Bayern Münich midfielder, their top choice to strengthen the midfield during the current summer transfer window.

According to Falk, initial negotiations began last March, and Manchester City were ready to pay €100 million (£85.8 million) to sign the 22-year-old player, not including add-ons.

Falk stated: "Manchester City considered Aleksandar Pavlovic their first choice for this position. The initial talks took place in March, and they informed the player that they were able to pay €100 million."

He added that Pavlovic requested time to think about the offer before making his decision to remain with Bayern Münich, despite the strong interest from the English club.

Falk explained that Manchester City have not made a formal offer for Bayern Münich, but the German club is fully aware of their interest in the player.

After Aleksandar Pavlovic informed Manchester City of his desire to stay with Bayern Münich, the club turned to their second option, Ayyoub Bouaddi from Lille, for around €95 million (£81.5 million).
