AS Roma considering signing Wilfried Zaha to meet Gasperini's request
AS Roma are considering signing Ivorian Wilfried Zaha, the former Crystal Palace winger, on a free transfer to meet the wishes of coach Gian Piero Gasperini to strengthen the left side of the attack.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, AS Roma were unable to secure a new left winger before the summer transfer window closed, despite Gian Piero Gasperini's insistence on adding a player in that position to his squad.
AS Roma made a last-minute move in the transfer market to negotiate with Stuttgart player Jamie Loweling. They had previously been linked with several names, including Mason Greenwood and Krisenio Summerville, but none of these attempts were successful.
The newspaper reported that sporting director Tony Damiano is currently studying the options available in the free agent market, with Wilfried Zaha among the names being considered.
Wilfried Zaha is 33 years old and has become a free agent after his contract with Galatasaray expired on June 30. He spent the last 18 months on loan at Charlotte FC.
The player has extensive experience in the Premier League, having played 458 matches with Crystal Palace across two spells, scoring 90 goals in all competitions, including 68 goals in 291 matches in the Premier League.
AS Roma are not only interested in Wilfried Zaha, as the club is also studying the possibility of signing Raphael Guerreiro, who is available on a free transfer after leaving Bayern Munich, in addition to former AS Monaco winger Krépin Diatta.
