Kvaratskhelia enters Ballon d'Or race strongly
Khvicha Kvaratskhelia's name is gaining traction in the discussion surrounding the candidates for the 2026 Ballon d'Or, with increasing support for the Paris Saint-Germain star ahead of the announcement of the winner on October 26.
According to Le Parisien, prominent names in the world of football, including Michel Platini, Toni Kroos, Unai Emery, Luis Fernández, and Samir Nasri, have shown their support for Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, indicating a rise in his chances for the top individual award.
The Georgian player's file is primarily based on his remarkable performance with Paris Saint-Germain last season, where he played a crucial role in the team's consecutive UEFA Champions League title win. He was also named the UEFA Champions League Player of the Season for 2025-2026.
The negative point in Khvicha Kvaratskhelia's file remains his absence from the FIFA World Cup 2026, after Georgia failed to qualify for the tournament, which may affect his chances compared to some of his competitors who shone during the World Cup.
The picture is expected to become clearer on September 8, when the list of the thirty nominees for the Ballon d'Or will be announced.
