Betis president reveals reason for rejecting huge offer for Ezzalzouli

Ángel Haro, the president of Real Betis, revealed that his club received an important offer to sign Moroccan international Abde Ezzalzouli on the last day of the transfer window, but they decided to reject it as the amount was not close to the player's release clause.

Haro explained in statements reported by the newspaper 'Sport' that Real Betis was seeking to complete a major sale during the transfer window, with the aim of improving their financial situation and achieving a balance between their income and the expenses associated with the team's squad.

The president of the Andalusian club stated that regular revenues are not enough to cover all financial obligations, making it essential to generate significant income from selling some players to maintain the current squad.

Haro added: "We wanted to register more departures, but when there are contracts, it is not that easy. We had to make a big sale to balance the accounts."

Real Betis president pointed out that Ezzalzouli was one of the most prominent names rumored to leave, confirming: "There was an opportunity for a big sale concerning Abde Ezzalzouli on the last day of the transfer window."

However, the management of the Spanish club is not convinced by the proposed financial value, especially since the offer was not close to the release clause included in the Moroccan player's contract, which is valued at around 60 million euros.

Haro emphasized that the club was expecting an offer close to this value on the last day of the transfer market before deciding to keep Ezzalzouli, especially as the team prepares to compete in the UEFA Champions League this season.

Real Betis president concluded his stance by affirming that the success of the decision to retain Abde Ezzalzouli will be determined by what the player delivers on the pitch, stating: "We will see in the future whether our decision is correct or not; if Ezzalzouli has a great season, then keeping him will be the right decision."
