Fitness doubts threaten Rodri's starting place with Barcelona

Doubts are emerging within FC Barcelona regarding Rodri's ability to start a significant number of matches this season, despite his arrival at the Catalan club as one of the standout signings of the summer.

Rodri has chosen to move to FC Barcelona due to the team's playing style, which he believes suits his characteristics, along with his desire to play with several of his Spain teammates.

The former Manchester City and Atlético player has participated in two matches in La Liga so far, against Athletic Bilbao and Rayo Vallecano, totaling around 20 minutes.

According to the program "El Chiringuito", Hans Flick and his coaching staff do not see Rodri as capable of playing around 60 matches in the season as a starter, and therefore the coaching staff plans to share the midfield position between him and Marc Bernal at a similar rate.

Concerns have arisen following Rodri's minor back surgery during the summer, impacting his pre-season preparation. Questions about his physical condition were also raised ahead of the World Cup, as part of discussions regarding the Spanish national team.

Based on this, Flick may rely on Rodri more in major matches, while Marc Bernal, who is seen as his successor at FC Barcelona and the Spanish national team, will get more chances to participate in less important league matches, as is happening at the start of the current season.
