Ferran Torres, the Spanish forward for Paris Saint-Germain, discussed the details of his move to the French club during the summer transfer window, confirming that communications between the two parties began before the FIFA World Cup, and that he was eager to embark on a new experience with the UEFA Champions League champions.

Ferran Torres stated during the media day organized by Paris Saint-Germain, according to Spanish newspaper "Mundo Deportivo": "I started the conversations with Paris Saint-Germain even before the FIFA World Cup. They contacted us and we talked, then I had made my decision because I wanted to play for a club like Paris Saint-Germain. It's a step forward in my career, and I am very proud of it because I joined the champions of Europe."

Ferran Torres commented on his transfer fee of nearly €50 million: "Scoring the winning goal for Spain in the FIFA World Cup against Argentina did not significantly impact the amount that Paris Saint-Germain paid to sign me."

The Paris Saint-Germain forward spoke about the role of Luis Enrique and Luis Campos in his transfer, saying: "I have always said that Luis Enrique has been like a father to me since I joined the Spain national team. He has always believed in me, and now he has believed in me to join Paris Saint-Germain. He has given me a lot of confidence, and I hope to repay that confidence this season."

He added: "We will try to win, but we will see. Paris Saint-Germain is currently the best team in Europe, having won the UEFA Champions League in the last two editions, and this puts more pressure on the competitors. We need to improve, and we will try to win the UEFA Champions League for the third consecutive time."

Regarding his position on the pitch, he explained: "Luis Enrique has always asked me for the same thing, as he did before. He has allowed me to play in the three attacking positions, and if you can play in several positions, it's good for the team and for me."

Ferran Torres stated: "The only thing Luis Enrique has done is give me confidence. I feel comfortable in the centre-forward position, and I have played in this position for the past two years. But in my first match with Paris Saint-Germain, Luis Enrique put me on the left wing and I scored two goals, so I will play in any position he puts me in."
