Eiraola: We need to win, and this is my opinion on Parkola

Andoni Iraola, the manager of Liverpool, has discussed his team's preparations for their match against Ipswich Town tomorrow, Friday, in the 3rd round of the Premier League, at Portman Road.

Andoni Iraola spoke about the upcoming match against Ipswich: "I think Ipswich started well, winning their first home game. As for the other match, where they lost 5-2 to Manchester United on Sunday, in the first half they were probably the better team. Until United scored their second goal, the match became more open and they had to take more risks. I think they performed well, so we need to be at our best and give our all to achieve our first win."

Iraola spoke about Liverpool's start to the season, saying: "We need to win, and we feel frustrated at this part of the season. I think we need to keep fighting in the matches, but I want to win, and I need to win. We will enter the match with the same mentality. I think the first two rounds were the hardest for us, especially with the transfer market still open. Now I feel much more comfortable. The transfer market has closed, and we know who we are."

He added: "I believe we have a lot of talent. Now we need to deliver the required performance, do our job, and we will start from tomorrow. The players' attitude is a positive thing, but I focus on the necessity of scoring first. Everything looks better when you do that; we have spent 90% of the minutes this season trailing due to conceding early goals. When you are behind and then score, things don't look good. When you are leading 1-0, it is enjoyable, so our focus must be on starting stronger and not waiting for the first goal to become more aggressive. We need a stronger start because after that, things become easier when you are in control of the score."

Regarding the signings made by Liverpool during the summer transfer window, Iraola said: "I am very happy with all the signings we have made. I know the next question will be: Did you want more? In the end, the club decided that the signings we made are the ones that will help improve the team. There were other options we decided not to pursue for various reasons. Sometimes, things did not make sense from a sporting or economic perspective in the market for these moves, but I am happy now. I have a lot of quality in the team. And now it is time for me and the players to develop what we have."

Regarding player values and transfer fees, Iraola said: "We cannot put prices on players or demand a certain level from them based on the amounts paid for them. We have seen the transfer market and what clubs have paid for players this summer, in all positions. It is about trusting the players we have now. We need to help them perform at their best, not because of their cost. I will field the player who will help us win the match. I will not look at whether a player cost more or less. In fact, I don't even know how much they earn, and I don't ask the club about that. I have the players, and I have to choose the best player each week. I need to win matches."

Discussing the new signing for the team, Iraola said: "We are very happy with Bradley. He was a priority for us, let’s say, to sign a very good player in this position, he arrived with the right mentality. The thing that impressed me about him is that he wanted Liverpool very much. He just wanted to come here, and I think that’s a good first sign, especially considering the player he is and the things he has achieved, he came with a desire to help us."

He concluded: "I am very happy with him, and he has trained well with us. If things go well in today's training, he will definitely be available for tomorrow's match; I see him in good shape. He has trained with us, and it is true that he hasn't had minutes in the preparation period, but he has been training. Regarding his participation as a starter, that is a decision we need to make. He is in a good position, but we have to take into account that he hasn't had minutes in the preparation matches."
