Barcelona miss out on financial return after Betis reject Ezzalzouli sale

Real Betis have rejected an offer to sign Moroccan Abde Ezzalzouli on the final day of the transfer window, denying FC Barcelona a financial return as they hold around 20% of the player's rights.

Spanish newspaper "Sport" reported that Ángel Haro, president of Real Betis, revealed details of the offer during a press conference to assess the transfer market, confirming that the club rejected it as it did not approach the buyout clause in Ezzalzouli's contract, which is around €60 million.

Harou explained that Real Betis was keen to complete a big sale to balance their accounts, but the offer made for Abde Ezzalzouli was not sufficient, so the club decided to keep the player during the season in which the team is participating in the UEFA Champions League.

Real Betis will assess the decision to keep Abde Ezzalzouli later, with the president stating that a great season from the player will make the decision successful.

Thus, FC Barcelona were set to receive 20% of the value of the offer made for Abde Ezzalzouli, but Real Betis' rejection halted the deal and deprived the Catalan club of this financial return.
